canceling your trip

  • Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for

  • We offer an Adaptable Trip Cancellation Option which allows you to cancel up to 48 hours before your trip starts for any reason.

    The ATC costs $250 per person and must be added to the Travel Protection Plan within 21 days of your first trip payment.

    If you cancel for a reason not covered by the Travel Protection plan, you'll receive 75% of your trip cost as a future trip savings, valid for 2 years.

    ATC does not apply to travel arrangements not made by Backroads (e.g., airfare).

    Both the Travel Protection plan and ATC costs are non-refundable 14 days after purchase.

transferring your ticket

  • You can freely transfer to another trip before the final payment, except for Private Trips.

    After the final payment date, transfers are not permitted, and cancellations follow the Trip Cancellation Policy.

    If the new trip costs more, you'll cover the difference, and insurance may need adjustment.

    Refer to the Transfer Policy for specifics.

  • Your deposit is fully refundable for Scheduled and Private trips within 7 days of booking (when booked at least 7 days before the final payment due date). Beyond this period, you can still transfer your deposit or, for Scheduled trips only, keep it on your account for a future booking as long as you make the change before the Final Payment due date.

    For Scheduled Trips, you can transfer or credit your payment up to 95 days before the trip, after which cancellation fees apply.

    For Private Trips, you can do this within 7 days of booking, provided you book at least 7 days before the final payment is due.
